Traditional Sri Lankan food is vegan. Surens granny who lived into her 90's and had 9 children was a vegan all her life! The main reason is to go to temple one has to be clean in body and soul and a plant based diet is the purest diet possible. There are a lot of dishes with fish, especially on the coast, but to enter into a temple you had to not eat any meat, fish or eggs. Sri Lankans go to temple a lot and they traditionally live in balance with life and spirituality. A plant based diet is the highest vibration food and offers all the nutrients one needs to live a healthy life.
Mrs Sri Lankan Delights (Jen) has been vegan since 1999. Plant based is what we eat at home and the best food we can offer others. We love being 100% plant based and will continue to share nutritious, traditional Sri Lankan food with as much organic, local Scottish vegetables.
